it did this with mine as well, you either need to resize them, or get a new layout. I found that only one layout supported the big pictures i had (thats why my blog isnt very pretty). I couldnt resize my graphs or else noone could read them, so i was forced to use the one layout that shows big pics. Its called "Sanddollar" on the template page. If you find another solution, let me know, i would love to change my background.
